Happy Birthday Katie!

Today is my sister-in-law Katie's birthday. She's the big 5-0! The photo is a picture I took in Pittsburg, Texas, where her and my husband's family originates from. Pittsburg Hot Links is an institution in this small city, and we make a pilgrimage every few years to partake of the links (at least my husband does, I eat a burger)! Anyway, for one of Katie's gifts, I shot this photo, and enhanced it with a TTV frame from Flickr. I enlarged it to a 20x20, and put it in an Ikea clip frame. I really liked the look of it so much that I made one for myself, too!
Back to the birthday girl...... I am so fortunate to have such an awesome sister-in-law! Katie is one of the smartest, funniest, strongest, most beautiful women that I know. She and her husband Rick have raised two fantastic kids. Katie and I laugh so much when we're together, which isn't nearly often enough.
My daughter, Becca, isn't blessed with any wonderful sisters the way that I am (shout out to Denise and Clydean), so it's my hope that someday she'll have a sister-in-law like Katie that she'll be close to. Happy Birthday, girl! Love ya'!

Go Cats!!!!

Here's a few more scrimmage photos, this time from the Hirschi scrimmage at Memorial Stadium. The Bearcats open their season this Friday at home against Pottsboro. Go Cats - Beat the Cardinals!!!!

Tandy

This is my friend Tandy, and she's expecting a little girl in September. Funny story, she and her husband Chris were planning on naming her Charley. They decorated the nursery, and hung letters on the wall spelling out her name. Then, the "C" fell off the wall and broke. They didn't hurry to replace it, and went in and out of the nursery with "Harley" hanging on the wall, grew used to it, and decided to name her "Harley" instead of "Charley"! I think that is a GREAT name story!

I don't really do a lot of vignettes, but I wanted to 'pink up' this picture a little bit. CC always welcome, thanks for looking!
**ETA** I cheated a little bit, and went back and changed my photo - same photo actually, but I thought it might be fun with Sharonmc's Damask Brush. TFL!

More scrimmage shots

Here's a few more from the scrimmage in Boyd. Will have more after the scrimmage Thursday at Memorial Stadium. Go Cats!!!!

FOOTBALL!!!!!!

It's finally time for football!!!! We love football at all levels at our house. Becca cheers for Pee Wee league ball, we are rabid Cowboys fans, Ryan has even dragged us kicking and screaming into the throes of college ball fandom, but what we love the most is BEARCAT FOOTBALL!!!!! We had our first scrimmage this past Saturday, and the Cats looked a little bit rusty, but they'll work the kinks out.
First pic is Ryan on the line; 2nd is Seth, Nate and Jake breaking up a Boyd pass; 3rd is Seth at QB; and last is Corbin catching a pass. This happened right in front of me, and I didn't have time to zoom my lens back in, so it's kind of an extreme close-up!
Leave me a comment and let me know what you think! Thanks for looking! :)

Birthday Announcement

I learned about the Pay It Forward website through 2peas where so many talented folks share techniques, templates and ideas! I followed the tutorial for this announcement, and learned a few things along the way. Let me know what you think... Also, the damask brushes that I used were from Sharonmnc. Thanks, Sharon!

Happy birthday to Kabree, she's such a cutie!

Old Jailhouse

This is the old jailhouse here in my hometown. It's now a museum. This is actually the living quarters section, and the bars on the windows are on the other side of the building. After my dad died, my mom donated his old gun cabinet to the museum to hold the guns that they have on display. Dad used to tell a story about how he spent a few nights in there in his younger days (back in the late forties, early fifties)for fighting and carousing, don't know if he was teasing or not! :) They actually have a "hanging" bar in the middle of the jail where they used to do executions back in the early 1900's. About 20 years ago, before they restored it, there was a Halloween Haunted House in there - Mega Creepy!
